Rules/OOC

OOC Info

Hi! You can call me Eridan, or Eri for short, and if you think you know where that name came from, nope, you do not! ;) I am a 33 year old certified pastel horrorterror here to throw my morally pink Elezen dude into Situations™, make friends, and have a good time. These rules are not mandatory to read over when approaching me ingame, but I do greatly appreciate if you do, and it is a MUST if we will have long-term, indepth interactions. They may seem a tad strict and intimidating, but I assure you, I am just a funky li'l guy and will not bite your head off LOL.

Warnings

SPOILER WARNINGS:•• Morganaux's entire backstory is a spoiler for the Scholasticate sidequests. If you are concerned about spoilers for those quests, you may want to refrain from reading his bio until you have completed them. Absorb that delicious, fucked up Ishgardian lore.CONTENT WARNINGS:•• There are dark themes present in Morganaux's backstory and ongoing story. There may be brief hints here and there, but I generally do not explore these without prior discussion or unless I am given the signal to go ahead with it for the sake of everyone's OOC comfort. They are also not a mandatory part of interacting with him and will be utilized sparingly. I do ask that these dark themes be handled tastefully and maturely should our RP decide to go that route, and that they be explored in private and NOT out in public out of respect for others' comfort.•• Such themes include, but are not limited to religious trauma, abuse, violence and gore, death, classism, emotional manipulation, unhealthy relationship dynamics, purity culture, and more.

Rules

GENERAL RULES:◦ I am an adult (33) and only feel comfortable interacting with other adults.◦ I'm open to RPing with just about anyone as long as there's genuine effort involved with interaction, you aren't simply here for shipping only, and you treat others with kindness.◦ Racists, sexists, transphobes, homophobes, and bigots in general are NOT welcome.◦ I will NOT interact with those who use "lore purity" as an excuse to be bigoted or those who write IC bigotry without putting proper care into such a delicate subject. (Example: Ishgardian RPers who police what races, skin tones, gender identities, etc. are "acceptable" Ishgardians.)◦ We also will not get along if you use lore as an excuse to put down others. If something's not your cup of tea, it's fine to not interact with that concept, but do be kind to people.◦ Respectfully-explored IC bigotry (with prior consent of all present for the interaction) is fine with me. Just please be open to kindly-worded con-crit if something comes across in poor taste, from my perspective as a queer POC. Also, keep in mind that Morgy will react accordingly.◦ I'm slow with replies, so please be patient with me. If you feel I've missed your post, please don't be afraid to poke me because chances are, I did.◦ I also ask that you do NOT treat missed posts as my character ICly ignoring yours, especially if you are approaching me when I am in the middle of interacting with someone else. Venue chat can get busy, so if I get overwhelmed, I might just be focusing on that one interaction. On IC vs OOC and Consent:◦ Expect IC consequences for IC actions. Please do not be upset OOCly if Morganaux acts accordingly if he is antagonized and his warnings are not heeded. (If you have accidentally upset him and are not interested in IC conflict, let me know and we can plot out a way to smooth things over or work out a retcon, within reason!)◦ OOC =/= IC. However, if the RP is upsetting you in any way, don't be afraid to let me know OOCly and I'll happily adjust for your safety and comfort!◦ I expect the above point to be reciprocated! I am able to differentiate between IC and OOC, but there are some topics that I am NOT comfortable with and find to be triggering. If I express discomfort about something in the RP and there is no willingness to compromise or find a middle ground, I reserve the right to discontinue further interactions.◦ OOC =/= IC is not a free pass to reduce other players' characters to punching bags. RP is meant to be a fun, collaborative writing experience for ALL parties. I love IC conflict and I enjoy characters that do not get along with my character! However, if it's excessive, does not create a fun, interesting RP for BOTH of us, or you are making it clear that you, the writer, have some sort of personal issue with me or my character, please do not.◦ I may be an edgelord who loves dark shit, but please obtain my consent before dropping triggering content on me out of nowhere. For example, if you roll /random 20 for your character to commit sudoku because mine accidentally triggered yours, I'm blocking you.◦ Please also obtain my OOC consent before doing something that will automatically "fix" a problem I am exploring in RP. (Ex: Attempting to heal him, but leaving it up to me how effective it is is GREAT! Go ahead! Dropping a large sum of gil on him to singlehandedly fix his financial problems and end starvation in the Brume in one fell swoop is NOT so great. Please don't.)

CONTACT
◦ You can always send me a /tell ingame. I am happy to accept friend requests, but please talk to me or interact with Morganaux first prior to sending one so I know who you are.
◦ My Discord is available on request for plotting, Discord RP, etc.PREFERENCES◦ I do heavily lean toward "lore-abiding" concepts, but I am very flexible and open to just about any concepts so long as they're explained well and are fun to interact with.◦ I am generally not interested in interacting with characters from other media unless that character has been reworked to fit into the FFXIV universe in a reasonable way.◦ I am open to RP with WoLs and NPCs, but typically reserve such interactions for one on one private RP to preserve immersion for those who do not want to engage with such muses.◦ I live for dark themes, but only if they are written tastefully. Silly themes are fine, so long as they aren't excessive and do not derail serious moments.◦ IC conflict, consequences, and angst are fun in appropriate doses, and I love to RP them! If they become endless, disproportionate, over the top, have no clear resolution, or result in my exclusion from participating in RP, it becomes not so fun. If it gets to that point, I will let you know, and I ask that you communicate with me before dropping major consequences on my character, especially if these consequences are not something I can reasonably foresee.SHIPPING-SPECIFIC RULES AND PREFERENCES◦ I am selective when it comes to shipping. There needs to be plot and substance involved, and I get bored if the ship's sole interactions involve romance. I am most interested in enemies to lovers and enemies as lovers ships, but I am open to other dynamics too.◦ Love at first sight is cool with me as long as it makes sense. Slow burn is also A+.◦ Fully played out ERP will be a rarity, so fades to black will be frequent.◦ I am a multi-shipper and RP a polyamorous muse. If you're uncomfortable with poly ships, let me know and we can work out a monogamous AU. But, if you're uncomfortable with multi-shipping, I'm not the right person to ship with, as I have many existing RP ships for Morgy.◦ Do NOT accuse my character of cheating for RPing other ships on Discord or in alternate universes. I have many other AUs for Morganaux beyond his ingame iteration.◦ If you look down on polyamory, don't interact. (I'm referring to bigotry, not being uncomfortable with it personally.)◦ Morganaux is gay and trans. That will never change. Ever. Do NOT ask. Also, please don't fetishize his gender identity. Just treat him like a normal person and we'll be gucci.◦ Please don't blur IC and OOC if we ship our characters together. I'm not Morgy.

About

Though one may find it hard to believe, this very picture of an Ishgardian gentleman was once an orphan of the Brume who managed to secure himself a place in one of the Holy See's most powerful families, complete with all the privileges that would only be afforded to a trueborn son. Yet, his peculiar ascent to the upper echelons of Pillars society is just one of the many mysteries and controversies surrounding this seemingly delicate young man.

During his youth, Morganaux was the source of many a rumor when he disappeared from Saint Endalim's Scholasticate without warning, only to return moons later after having been welcomed into House Dzemael of all families, taken in as the adopted son of the Count de Dzemael himself. From there, he would seemingly pick up his education where he had left off as if nothing had happened at all, and after years of working himself to the bone devouring every bit of knowledge he could come by, he would secure himself a spot within the Trinity upon his graduation from the Scholasticate.

Although his outstanding academic achievements and familial connections would have easily earned him a cozy job amongst the Vault's elite, Morganaux would catch the Holy See by surprise by turning down the many positions that had been offered to him, instead announcing his intention to leave Ishgard behind entirely. Claiming to have received a divine revelation from the Fury Herself, Morganaux would leave his homeland to embark on a holy mission to convert unbelievers to the Halonic Orthodoxy. ...Or so he would say.

For years, Morganaux would wander Eorzea, supposedly in service of his most sacred of callings, but he would soon find himself returning to the Holy See following the end of the Dragonsong War, as Halone had called him home. With ease, he would reintegrate himself back into Ishgardian society, taking up a part-time position at the Scholasticate as a professor of arcanima, all too happy to share what he had learned about the subject during his time away. He would also take part in discussions of Halonic reform, knowing full well that his intimate knowledge of scripture would be much-needed as his homeland took its first clumsy steps into the modern era.

In truth, his happy life back home in Ishgard was a lie. Everything about his life was a carefully crafted lie that would inevitably spell his doom were it all to be unraveled, for he was no living saint of the Fury, but merely a man who had lost his faith long, long ago. During those months where he had gone missing all those years ago, Morganaux had nearly become a victim of the church's corruption, having been forcibly conscripted as an expurgator— a living sacrifice to Halone, whose sole purpose was to be a vessel to the Holy See's darkest secrets— all to cover up the misdeeds of a priest hiding an unforgivable evil within his heart.

In the short time he would spend locked away in Her Holy Body of Decency, he would memorize all that he was taught about the truth of Ishgard's past. He would bide his time until he found a way out of his prison so that one day, he would share all that he knew and expose both the church and the High Houses for the lies that they had perpetuated for centuries. And by some manner of miracle, he would see himself freed, far sooner than expected, by a pair of young Dzemael lords who had taken a very, very wrong turn while exploring the hidden tunnels of their manor. From there, relying solely on his wits, he would manage to convince the cold-hearted Count de Dzemael to accept him as one of his own. ...Or rather, forced him to.Under the watch of one of Ishgard's most powerful noble houses, Morganaux was virtually untouchable, knowing full well that if he were to disappear again or be slain, it would cause quite a stir— something that Her Holy Body of Decency could not afford if they wished for their operations to remain a secret. Knowing that he was safe for now, he would remain in Ishgard long enough to finish his education, absconding the very moment he knew it was safe to do so, using his tale of being a missionary as a cover for his true intentions. The truth of what Morganaux got up to during his time away from home, as well as his intentions now that he has returned remain a mystery, at least for now. Perhaps in time, that will change, but for now, he does not seem too keen on speaking on the matter.

Personality

GENTEEL • OPEN-MINDED • CHARITABLE • DISTRUSTFUL • IMPULSIVE

At a first glance, Morganaux seems to be an innocent, delicate flower of a man, far too soft to survive in the cutthroat world of Ishgardian high society. But proceed with caution— those who underestimate him may find themselves pricked upon the numerous thorns he grew during his ascent from a fallen, orphaned noble to an adopted son of the Count de Dzemael.

Though he has a kind, gentle heart, he is jaded by the cruelty and corruption that surrounded him during his youth, and while he may be outwardly polite and friendly to those he meets, it will take much time for him to begin to trust someone enough to truly open up to them. He is cautious about what information he shares about himself, knowing full well the power that secrets can give over a person, and he is not above lying in order to keep himself safe.

Trivia/Miscellaneous Facts

• Although the label for it likely doesn't exist on Eorzea, Morganaux is on the autism spectrum. On top of being overly formal and a bit socially awkward outside of the Pillars, he sometimes experiences sensory overload, with the scent and feeling of sweat in excess over long periods of time being a major trigger for that. He has several stims, such as auditory stimming (usually by repeating words he likes, particularly the name of whatever food he's about to eat if he's excited about it), toe-walking, hair twirling, and bouncing. And, he also has an odd sing-song tone of voice, and it's quite common for people to assume he's doing it to be condescending before they realize that's just how he is naturally.• One of his mothers was a transgender woman, and even though he never met her, knowing this about her made it very easy for him to realize his own identity at a young age. When she was murdered, she passed a portion of her aether to the unborn Morganaux, which lingered with him until the day he first summoned his faerie familiar Peony, at which point that aether fused with her. As a result, Peony possesses a higher level of sentience than most aetherial constructs, and while she does not have the memories or personality of Morganaux's mother, she does treat him like her child.• Morganaux's ingame character model is a Wildwood, but he is absolutely a Duskwight and would be recognized as one ICly after getting a close look at him. I just wanted to give him pink ear clasps, that's all. While he wasn't raised in Duskwight culture, he is certainly one by blood and is very much interested in learning more about his ancestry, feeling quite cheated by his purely Ishgardian upbringing.• His ingame height is also inaccurate— he's 5'9" ICly.

Quotes

[To be filled out once he says some weird shit in RP]

Hobbies

BALLET:
While far from being a professional, Morganaux has a love for ballet, using his healing magicks to strengthen his frail frame enough to dance. At this time, he is self-taught and does not practice with others, instead learning from the performances he attends and the books he has collected on the subject.

READING:
Books have always been close to his heart, particularly Ishgardian faerietales and romance novels. His appreciation for faerietales runs so deep that he has studied the old Elezen tongue just for the sake of being able to read older stories in their original form.

Habits

WANDERER:
He does not like to remain in the same place for too long, often moving from room to room seemingly for no reason. He will also go on walks frequently, sometimes taking to the streets at night by his lonesome during particularly strong bouts of wanderlust.

THINKING OUT LOUD:
At times when his mind gets overwhelmed with too many thoughts, he may start putting his most important thoughts into mumbled words so he can better focus on them. He is quite self-conscious about this and will get defensive if anyone points out this habit.

Strengths

COMPASSIONATE:
At one point in his life, Morganaux wanted nothing more than to become a clergyman, admiring them for their supposed incorruptible virtues— especially compassion toward the poor and vulnerable. Though that dream has long been shattered by the corruption that ran rampant throughout Ishgard, he still holds these values close to his heart, hoping he can truly embody them.

RESILIENT:
Despite the many misfortunes fate has brought upon him, Morganaux does not let them get in his way, instead carrying on with fierce determination to do what his heart desires.

Weaknesses

IMPULSIVE:
As smart as he is, he often lets his heart get in the way of things, leading to him having an impulsive streak a mile wide. In situations of injustice, he is quick to act, even if it means putting himself in unnecessary danger.

EMOTIONALLY DISHONEST:
Morganaux believes that it is wrong for himself to express negative emotions like anger and sadness, choosing to bottle them up out of fear of being an inconvenience to those around him instead of finding a healthy way to express them. Convincing him to truly open up about his feelings will require a lot of care and persistence.

Skills

ARCANIMA:
Having extensively studied healing and shielding magicks during his time at Saint Endalim's Scholasticate, it would come as no surprise that learning arcanima would come easily to him after he embarked on his journey out of the Holy See. He has studied the ways of the Nymian scholars, combining his knowledge of Ishgardian and Nymian shielding spells to create his own novel way of protecting himself and others in battle.

GLAMOURS:
Morganaux has always been skilled with casting glamours, having developed an intense fascination with them growing up as a transgender youth. These days, he has expanded his application of them, using them to keep a smile on his face when he's having trouble keeping it together.

Goals

HOPELESS ROMANTIC:
Though it would be hard to guess judging by the sheer amount of suitors he has turned down, Morganaux is obsessed with the idea of falling in love and hopes one day to find a man that will live up to his faerietale dreams.

TRAVEL THE WORLD:
During his time away from Ishgard, he fell in love with the outside world and fully intends to explore every ilm of it before his life is over. Though he has returned home and has taken on a part-time job teaching arcanima at the scholasticate, he still sets aside plenty of time for himself to go out adventuring across the star.

Fears

BEING TRAPPED:
During his youth, Morganaux was confined to a small cell for several months before he was free, and the incident left him claustrophobic and with a fear of being trapped. Even staying in the same place for too long is something he is not comfortable with, and he is prone to sudden fits of wanderlust, even at the most inconvenient times.

EMOTIONAL INTIMACY:
Good luck trying to get him to open up about his true feelings. He's behind seven layers of Ishgardian trauma.

Secrets

OF THE HOLY BODY:
In retaliation for reporting a corrupt priest's heinous actions, said priest had Morganaux locked away to serve as an expurgator— one who is meant to only exist as a living text holding the Holy See's most closely-guarded secrets to pass along to Archbishops and their successors.
At the age of fifteen summers, Morganaux was taught the true origins of the Dragonsong War, and even after being freed and fleeing Ishgard, he did not share this truth for fear of not being believed. Even with the truth out there, he refuses to admit he knew before everyone else, believing he will be reviled for not saying something sooner.

COLLECTOR OF SECRETS:
To survive the cutthroat world of High House society, Morganaux likes to collect useful bits of information about his fellow noblemen to use to his advantage if his hand is forced.
HANDSOME STATUE:
In the Dzemael Manor's garden is a statue carved in the image of one of his former suitors who disappeared under mysterious circumstances and is presumed to be dead. The resemblance to the gentleman it is meant to honor is... Uncannily accurate, to put it lightly.

Rumors and Hooks

Now Hiring "Reputable" "Knights" (New - Uncommon)

A rumor floats about the Brume that Morganaux has recently acquired an abandoned warehouse there with the intent of renovating it and turning it into... His manor? From the sound of it, he is looking for individuals willing to serve as knights to stand guard over his new home and he has plenty of coin to offer for the cause.

Living Rags to Riches Faerie Tale (Common)

Morganaux had quite the interesting upbringing, having been born into the now-extinct noble House Roulemet only to be orphaned soon after his birth, be raised as a lowly child of the Brume, and eventually find his way back into nobility as a result of the Count de Dzemael's oh so kind and generous nature. There are many rumors floating around about his rather eventful childhood, with some viewing him as a real life faerietale prince, while others eye his life story with suspicion.

Swan Dive (Common)

Once the Count de Dzemael's adopted son, Morganaux caused quite the stir some moons ago when he was disowned from the High House. From the looks of it, he hasn't struggled much after his fall from grace, having been taken in as a ward of a lesser noble house and having opened up a bakery to continue his charitable ventures. In truth, he has made many an enemy during his time at the peak of high society— enemies who have been waiting for the perfect time to take their revenge on him, and now is as good of a time as any.

Do You Know the Muffin Man? (Common)

With money being a bit more tight these days, Morganaux has turned his hobby of baking into a full-on job, opening up a bakery in the Brume and using it to raise funds for the orphanage he grew up in. Ever the charitable soul, he happily provides free food and drink to Brumefolk in need that stop by. ...But just like the man himself, this bakery holds a number of secrets waiting to be found.

Emptier of the Dzemael Coffers (Common)

Morganaux was quite generous with the wealth he once had access to through his former adoptive family, often to an excessive extent. He considered himself a patron of the sciences and magical arts as well as a philanthropist with an interest in improving the conditions of Ishgardian orphanages. In addition to his more charitable spending, he lived a rather lavish lifestyle, indulging in custom-tailored clothing and copious amounts of sweets. Perhaps his past over the top spending habits and frequent charitable donations have caught the attention of your character for one reason or another?

Graduate of Saint Endalim's Scholasticate (Common)

If your muse studied at Saint Endalim's Scholasticate, they may have have heard of Morganaux, or possibly have even been in the same classes as him. In the time that he attended the scholasticate, he had a reputation for his unshakable piety and for being quite competitive in his academic pursuits. He was also a bit of a recluse and kept to himself, with one of the few exceptions being his close friendship with the now-deceased Heavens' Ward mage, Noudenet de Jaimberd.

Halone's Most Perfect, Pious Angel (Common)

Morganaux had something of a reputation during his youth for his devotion to the Fury, and those around him believed he was destined for the clergy one day. Instead, he caught them all by surprise by announcing the Fury had given him a divine calling to follow in the footsteps of Saint Daniffen by leaving Ishgard. Rather than lending his aid in combat like the traveling saint, he would serve as a missionary for the Halonic faith, though upon his return, he was unable to speak of his many converts, for Halone bade him to swore an oath of secrecy.

The Very Hungry Chocobo Chick (Common)

A few moons ago, on the very same day his former fiancé perished in an accident involving a red chocobo, Morganaux was followed home by a chocobo chick that imprinted on him. Though he was never fond of chocobos due to their smell, he chose to adopt the sweet little critter, naming him after his deceased suitor, Janremi de Durendaire. Little Janremi Eggbert is a spirited young lad with a voracious appetite for just about anything edible, and is often seen begging for treats or trying to steal food from his adoptive father. Oddly enough, the bird is in possession of a machinist's soul crystal.

That One Time He Suspiciously Vanished (Uncommon)

Sometime around his fourteenth summer, Morganaux vanished from Saint Endalim's Scholasticate for several moons with no warning or explanation, and without anyone of influence to investigate his sudden disappearance. When he finally returned, it was as a son of House Dzemael, and any inquiries on the matter have been met with no definite answer. This period of his life is occasionally the subject of speculation both in High House gossip and amongst those who have found themselves hurt by the Halonic church.

The Last Roulemet Jewel (Uncommon)

Before a mysterious fire left Morganaux its sole survivor, House Roulemet was a family of goldsmiths who once produced breathtakingly beautiful creations that were all the rage in Pillars society. However, in the decade leading up to the house's demise, their excessively ornate jewelry had fallen out of fashion, dismissed as dreadfully gaudy little things.Though he won't admit it to most nobles, he is passionate about finding all his family's jewelry that still exists— a difficult task given that much of it was melted down and turned into newer pieces more suited to current fashion trends.

Aether(over)flow (Uncommon)

Those sensitive to aether (and even those with entirely ordinary senses) may notice that Morganaux is in possession of a most peculiar abundance of corporeal aether— so much, in fact, that it seems a miracle that he has not keeled over from aethersickness.

Just What Is He Doing Here? (Setting-dependent)

He can sometimes be found in the audience of fight clubs or offering his healing services to those who ask, though he certainly seems out of place there given his seemingly gentle nature and delicate constitution. Surely, there must be a deeper reason for him to be there.Additionally, he frequents places in the Brume where criminals are known to gather and conduct business. If found there, he will assert that he is merely out doing charity work and will have a basket full of baked goods to prove it, but perhaps there is something more to his visits to such seedy parts of town.

Guardian Angel (Rare - Discuss First)

Knowing what it was like to grow up an orphan in Ishgard, Morganaux is fiercely protective of others living through his plight. As a professor of the Scholasticate, he keeps a close eye to make certain that orphan and commoner students are being treated fairly, and he devotes much of his free time to fundraising for Saint Reinette's Merciful Embrace, the orphanage he grew up in. He will do anything to ensure their safety. Anything.

Dark Knight Devotee (Rare - Discuss First)

Morganaux holds a romanticized view of Ishgard's dark knights, viewing them as living saints and true enactors of the Fury's justice. He has a few allies amongst their number who know him as someone who will gladly do what he can to keep them out of the inquisition's grip, and may point him out as a safe person other dark knights can turn to in a pinch. And though he lacks the physical strength to pick up the greatsword himself, he strives to follow their example in every other way that he can, even if it may land him in trouble sometimes.
